Three Family Courtrooms
New Justice Building, Darmstadt, 2006

The basic concept for each courtroom is an installation consisting of photography and text. Considering the topics dealt with in these spaces, I wanted the work to be of a discreet nature. Each installation consists of three photographs and two texts of a different character that work within the givens of the architecture. For the photographs, I decided on a trio that fits into a niche in the corner of each courtroom. I composed the motifs to fit the wood panels that define the interior space of the courtrooms, placing the texts opposite the images on white walls. Each piece relates indirectly to what is negotiated in these courtrooms, without being importunate, at times expressing a reconciliatory nature, at times reflecting every day reality.
